Supporting the use of offline Aadhaar verification, Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) CEO Ajay Bhushan Pandey on Wednesday said Fin Tech companies can use offline authentication to verify users.
Supreme Court has permitted the voluntary use of Aadhaar card and the offline verification can be done through an electronic version of physical Aadhaar card," Pandey said.
"An electronic Aadhaar can be verified Offline but without pinging the Aadhaar servers," he said.
A five-judge Constitution bench of the Supreme Court had on September 26 declared the centre's flagship Aadhaar scheme as constitutionally valid but had struck down some of its provisions, including its linking with bank accounts, mobile phones and school admissions clause.
