Don't see food inflation continuing at present rate: FM Nirmala Sitharaman

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Friday said that she is seeing signs of recovery in every sector. She was addressing HT Leadership Summit 2020.

Sitharaman emphasised that recovery was on track. “We are getting too close to the Budget, certainly we are now looking up in terms of recovery. Every sector is showing clear indication that recovery is there, some would say patchy, but never mind, consistently recovery is happening over the last two months,” she said.

On inflation Sitharaman said, “I am actually not worried about inflation to the extent that there are seasonal ups and downs in prices. With the intervention from the government periodically to meet any shortages in supply I have a feeling this blip in the inflation particularly of food items will ease out.”
