Cyclone Fani has made landfall at the temple town of Puri in Odisha around 8:30 this morning. Carrying a wind speed of 200 kilometres an hour. Over 10 lakh people have been evacuated to temporary shelters. Odisha is lashed by the most severe cyclonic storm since the super cyclone of 1999. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned of very heavy rainfall and "phenomenal sea conditions". The National Disaster Response Force or the NDRF is handling the relief operations.
