105-year-old Bhageerathi Amma sits for class 4 exams

Meet Bhageerathi Amma, the oldest candidate in India to sit for a literacy equivalency exam. Amma is also Kerala State Literacy Mission's District brand ambassador.

Kerala State Literacy Mission is an autonomous body under the state government. Literacy mission officials chose Amma to inspire women. Amma appeared for Class IV equivalency exam in November. She had to give up studies at the age of 9 to take care of her younger siblings.
