Talking about the upcoming earnings season, Rahul Singh, CIO-Equities, Tata Mutual Fund said that he expected disturbance to come from auto and commodity space and added that corporate and retail banks are expected to do well.
He said,"This year we could end up in low double-digits but next year for FY20 it would be much better and could be around 20 percent. However, giving a full year outlook is froth with risks." "It is difficult to give a full-year outlook for 2019 because the narrative changes every quarter."
According to him, the outlook for the metal sector is still worrying on back of challenging macros and China slowdown as well as a likely slowdown in the US. "However, one should keep an eye on what kind of monetary stimulus China comes up with. Trade war is also a factor to look at when it comes to metals. So there are multiple factors at play here but there could be a tactical opportunity as well," he said.
On the IT space, he said FY20 outlook is visible and solid in terms of earnings because deals won in 2018 would start showing results now beyond FY20.
