Mumbai girl youngest in the world to climb South America's highest peak

A 12-year-old mountaineer from Mumbai who has made India proud after she becomes the youngest girl in the world to summit Mt Aconcagua.

At 6,962 meters, Mt Aconcagua is the highest peak in South America and outside Asia. The young mountaineer is a class VII student from Mumbai’s Navy Children School.

She summited the peak on February 1 and unfurled the tricolour. The 12-year-old is no stranger to mountains. In 2017, Kaamya scaled one of the highest Himalayan peaks, Mt Stok Kangri.

She also summited Ladakh’s 6,260 meters Mt Mentok Kangri II in August 2019. Kaamya aims to complete ‘Explorers Grand Slam’ by 2021.
