Iconic American motorcycle brand Harley-Davidson has pulled the plug on its India operations as part of its global restructuring strategy.
The company's fall in global sales has been well documented over the past many years, with a change in buyer preference being a key factor in dwindling demand. It's been a similar picture in India with a buyer preference shifting to the adventure motorcycling segment.
To add to the low sales volumes, the company found itself in the eye of a political controversy stoked by US President Donald Trump, who has been vocal in his demand that India cut taxes for US companies, especially Harley-Davidson.
