Paperless air travel: gears up for face-based digital ID

The road to paperless air travel is slowly becoming a reality. This as companies like Yatra are prepping their platform for a new feature which will enable a passenger to select the option of creating a digital ID while booking a flight ticket.

CNBC-TV18 caught up with Manish Amin, Chief Information and Technology Officer of to find out the details of the company's plan.

“In our case for domestic travellers there will be a digital Yatra ID (DYID). With that ID it is a onetime process," said Manish Amin, chief information and technology officer,

"When they go to the airport, there is a kiosk outside where you validate and authenticate yourself.  When we print the boarding pass or the e-ticket, we will print a QR code on that which helps you identify who the customer is, what the ID is, who is travelling and what the travel details are," he said.
