Renault India bets big on Triber to double market share by 2022

Renault India today launched Triber, which would be a big part of its rural strategy. In an interview with CNBC TV18, Renault India MD Venkatram Mamillapalle talked about the company strategy and the road ahead.

“We expect that this will be a game changer, not only for us, but for the whole automobile industry in India. Triber is the key stepping product for us to meet out midterm plans of 2022. As we have said, we will double our market share. So Triber is a volume player for us along with Kwid and Duster,” he said.

According to Mamillapalle, a reduction in goods and service tax (GST) would help the industry but the intervention should happen immediately. The company is in talks with various state governments to build an ecosystem for electric vehicles.

Talking about inventory levels at Renault dealership across the country, the MD said, “Across industry, we have the lowest inventory across our dealership network, which is less than 26 days to date. We are able to manage our inventories with proper planning.”
