Mahindra and Mahindra launched its all-new car- Mahindra XUV300, a third one in its compact SUV segment. Speaking from the sidelines of the launch, Pawan Goenka, MD of the company said to make three new product launches in a year amidst painful times for the auto sector.
Goenka says, "No matter how hard one has worked on the products, there are some last minute things that have to be resolved. However, it was a tough task for an auto company to launch three products in a single year." He added that he expects the new model to do lion’s share of sales when compared to recently launched models of the company, i.e. Marazzo and Altura.
Coming to the pricing of the model, Mahindra XUV 300 will be priced at Rs 7.9 lakh (petrol variant) and Rs 8.49 lakh (diesel variant), the sub-compact sports utility vehicle is expected to provide stiff competition to existing models in the segment such as Tata Nexon and Ford Ecosport.
The automatic transmission model for the XUV300 will be out in few months, and the next big thing will migration to BS-VI. "With the focus on BS-VI, don’t expect automakers to have significant launches for next 12 months. Right now we are focusing fully on taking the mammoth task of changing all our portfolio to BS-VI,” said Goenka.
He also confirmed that they are not looking at discounting of M&M vehicles to beef up sales.
