M&M touches lowest-ever market share in utility vehicles

M&M's market share in utility vehicles has continued to be on a declining slope. It has touched the lowest ever mark in May.
According to the SIAM numbers, the market share was at 23.5 percent which is the lowest ever M&M has had.
Last financial year, M&M ended as the number two player after Maruti Suzuki. Before this, M&M was the leader in the SUV market for a long time.
However, last year after the introduction of Vitara, Brezza, and Ertiga, a lot of M&M market share was hit and that is why they ended up in the second position.
Last month as well they were trying to close the gap. In January-March M&M managed to retain market share and be the number one player, but in April and May, the numbers have gone down.
With the Tata Nexon doing pretty well, Tata Motors has done well in the utility vehicle (UV) market share. Their UV market share in the month of May stands at around 7.2 percent. Maruti Suzuki on the other hand at this point of time has a 31 percent market share. Jeep Compass as well has had a hit on the M&M market share.
