Maruti Suzuki expects MPV market share to improve with the launch of XL6

Updated : August 21, 2019 06:00 PM IST

India's largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki India Ltd (MSIL) on Wednesday said it expects to increase multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) market share to improve with the launch of XL6.

In an interview to CNBC-TV18, Shashank Srivastava, executive director, marketing and sales, said, "XL6 has been launched in a segment which has seen steady growth in the previous few years and much higher than rest of the industry segments. So, this is a segment which has grown to almost 30 percent."

On BS-IV to BS-VI, he said, "Customers are a little bit in a wait mode. So, enquiry levels have gone up but the conversion has come down. One of the reasons is people are a little confused about BS-IV and BS-VI. This is our seventh BS-VI car and these seven vehicles take care of almost 70 percent of our volumes as far as our petrol vehicles are concerned."
