India's largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki on Friday said it has received 10,000 bookings in 8 days for S-Presso, which was launched in India on September 30.
In an interview to CNBC-TV18's Parikshit Luthra, Shashank Srivastava, executive director (Marketing & Sales) said, "Definitely, we have seen improvement over the last year. The September sales sequentially month-on-month, they were almost 20 percent better than August and July. In that sense, there seems to be some improvement in September. In this festive season, we see the same trend continuing. So, this year has been definitely better than last year."
On discounts he said, "Discounts was our effort in trying to revive the market. The government did many actions. Last month we reduced the prices in response to the tax benefits which the government gave to the manufacturers and this was done to revive the market. I do believe that these discount levels are not something which you can sustain for long period of time."
