For all the car enthusiasts, there are a few sedans to be rolled out in 2020, ranging from easily accessible mass-market models to exclusive and uber-luxurious ones.
Bertrand D'Souza, the editor of Overdrive, shared his views and outlook going forward. “Many of these models are from Japanese and Korean players. Kia Motors and Honda are going to come in a big way. There are a lot of players in the electric vehicle sector. The most important among them is Tata Nexon EV. Once that announcement is made, it is going to be the most interesting EVs to look forward to in 2020,” he said.
“The buyer sentiment is going to come back after August and September, closer to the festive season because it will take some time for the hike in prices to assimilate down to the masses. For the first two quarters, I don’t see much movement happening in this sector,” he added.
“The launches are not going to slow down in 2020. I don’t see that happening for sure. There is a good spate of launches coming up, there are about 15-20 cars expected to come out in the market. It is not just the cars, even the two-wheeler sector is going to be seeing a lot of movement,” D’Souza pointed out.
According to him, Maruti Suzuki will take a bit of a backseat as a lot of consolidation will happen for the company in 2020. "The attention will be on the players like Kia and MG Motors. Hyundai is going to be a much bigger player as well in this space. It is going to only strengthen what they have already done so far in 2019,” he added.
