Bajaj Auto says no to price cut in the export market

Bajaj Auto on Wednesday said the company will not take any price cut in the export market as it is doing well and key markets are fairly strong.
"We are not forced to take any cuts at this point in time, said Rakesh Sharma, chief commercial officer, Bajaj Auto. "Our retail franchise, our competitive positions and key markets are fairly strong. The extra realisation which we have got is marginal at this point in time but which is expected to increase particularly as we enter the new financial year.”
The margins are blended and the company has got three different businesses -- domestic motorcycles, commercial vehicles domestic and international business -- and the outcome is the performance of each of these businesses, Sharma said.
Bajaj Auto on Wednesday reported a 3.7 percent rise in second-quarter net profit but missed analysts' estimates, sending its shares down by 4 percent.
“International business has done pretty well in this period and within that it’s done well on the back of Africa and other markets coming back,” he added.
