We have started executing some orders for State Transport undertakings, said Anuj Kathuria, COO of Ashok Leyland, on Wednesday. Ashok Leyland saw the 8th consecutive month of rise in overall sales in January and double digit growth continues in the truck segment.
Speaking in an interview to CNBC-TV18, he said, “In the month of January the demand for long haul was much better than what we had seen in December and now, in Q4, we will see robust demand overall.”
“Buses also have started coming back slowly, but surely we are seeing demand. Some State Transport Orders (STO) that we had bagged earlier, we have started executing,” he said.
On scrappage policy front, Kathuria said, “It’s a welcome announcement although we understand it’s on voluntary basis. We are waiting for the fine print and therefore expect that in the next couple of weeks we should have more clarity on this.”
