Farmers reject government’s offer to create a committee with union representation

Farmers from across India continue to stage a protest at the Delhi borders, demanding a roll back of the three agri laws. The government had offered to listen to the farmers and invited leaders to hold talks with agriculture minister Narendra Singh Tomar.

In the meeting, government offered to create a committee with representatives from farmer unions, government and agri experts to discuss new laws. Farmers have rejected the proposal to form a committee but are ready for day-to-day talks with the government.

To understand the farmers’ grievances against the centre, CNBC-TV18 caught up with Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar, Shiv Kumar Sharma of Kisan Mazdoor Mahasangh, Chanda Singh of Bhartiya Kisan Union, Roop Singh of Bhartiya Kisan Union, Atishi, MLA of Aam Aadmi Party, and Rakesh Tikait of Bhartiya Kisan Union.
