The History of Holi

The story goes that there was a demon king named Hiranyakashipu, who wanted to be immortal. He prayed to Lord Brahma, who granted him a boon that he could not be killed by any human or animal, neither during day nor night, inside or outside his home. Hiranyakashipu became arrogant and cruel, and started to torture his son Prahlad, who was a devotee of Lord Vishnu.
