The Tanzanian government has disapproved a proposed Airtel Africa IPO, Mint reported.
According to the report, the Tanzanian government has informed the potential investors that it does not recognize the IPO plans of Airtel Africa Ltd.
The government said the ownership of Airtel Tanzania will depend on the talks between the Indian telco and the government, the report said citing a letter from the Tanzanian government.
Bharti Airtel told the newspaper that they were "in dialogue with the government of Tanzania for additional clarifications” and said "there has been no change in the shareholding of either Airtel Tanzania or Bharti Airtel Tanzania BV and the control of Airtel Tanzania will continue to be exercised by Airtel as earlier."
