The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) will start 5G trails soon and allocate the spectrum in January to various telecom companies, sources said.
The spectrum will be allocated at a nominal fee for a period of one year to allow for 5G trial play.
The Panel of the DoT led by telecom secretary met the various stakeholders that included all the major telecom companies.
It has allowed all network equipment makers, including Huawei, to participate in 5G trials.
After about 90 minutes long meeting, there was consensus that this needs to be fast and that the spectrum is likely to be allocated in the month of January.
