Apple annual launch event: Here is what to expect today
Apple is set to launch three new and upgraded iPhone models at its annual launch event, which are arguably named iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max or Plus and iPhone XC, alongside the fourth version of Apple Watch.

The event which is to take place on September 12 at the Steve Jobs Centre, may see new updates to its base model, a larger screen model or a “phablet-sized” version and a lower priced model.

“Curiously, the phablet sized version will not be the iPhone XS Plus, but is expected to be the iPhone X Max. While the West gets the ‘plus’ suffix to mean phablet, using ‘max’ is a new trick in the US and Europe, but is a common conceit in BRIC countries,” Ewan Spence of Forbes said.

Rumour has it that Apple’s iPhone XS Max may launch its first dual-sim and larger screen iPhone with few tweaks here and there to help stand out. However, the availability could be limited to BRIC countries.

The low priced ‘budget’ iPhone X model with a 6.1 inch screen may be the biggest highlight of the event and will replace the iPhone 8 model.

Last year’s iPhone launch also promised a new piece of technology in the form of wireless charging in iPhone X, iPhone 8 and 8 Plus.

However, AirPower, the wireless charging solution is still not available to the public. The upcoming event might see practical implementations available to the customers.

Apple’s biggest success story is its Apple Watch series. The company may reveal the fourth version of its smartwatch segment, which requires an iOS device connection and has evolved into a more fitness focused product. It is expected that the focus will be placed on the connection to the Apple Health and the cloud based analysis of data.
