The OS version is a bump over the Android 8.0 Oreo, as it directly jumped to 9.0, instead of 8.2 or 8.3 versions, the report said, adding that it will be available first hand to Sony, Xiaomi, Oppo, Vivo, One Plus and smartphones that fall under the Android One umbrella.

Google has rolled out its latest mobile operating system, Android 9.0 Pie with features including new system navigation, smart text selection and redesigned quick settings.

Pie will be initially available on Google’s Pixel phones.
“The latest release of Android is here! And it comes with a heaping helping of artificial intelligence baked in to make your phone smarter, simpler and more tailored to you. Today, we are officially introducing Android 9 Pie,” said Sameer Samat, vice president of product management, Android and Google Play on the company blogpost.
Google names its Android versions after sweet treats, such as Marshmallow. Google chose Pie in part because an upcoming feature called Slices will try to offer slices of information from your favourite apps without opening them.

Android 9.0 Pie beta programme will also be available to non-pixel phones such as Sony Xperia XZ2, Nokia 7 Plus, Oppo R15 Pro and One Plus 6.
Other features of the new operating system include simplified volume controls, a new dashboard, app timer, do not disturb mode, safety features.
