The investigation wing of the Competition Commission of India (CCI) has asked for details on the deals between Google and smartphone makers, The Economic Times reported.
The anti-trust regulator asked for details following allegations of misuse of market share by the Android operating system (OS), said the report citing a copy of the CCI letter to companies, which was sent last month.
The CCI has furnished letters to several handset makers such as Lava and Karbonn, seeking the information on the terms and conditions of the deal the maker had with Google, the report said.
The regulator has also sought the details of the licence fee or royalty payments made to Google for using Android OS and its mobile services, on a yearly basis, as per the report
The move comes after the European Union fined Google for breaching the market share of Android last year.
