Alibaba Cloud is bringing to India some new database products which helped it achieve the massive scale USD 38 billion gross merchandise volume (GMV) in 24 hours during the 11.11 festival last month.
Mugdha Variyar caught up with Feifei Li, President of Database Systems at Alibaba Cloud Intelligence to understand which business segments the company is targeting with these products.
Feifei Li said, “In some sense, we look at businesses across segments. Cloud database means that it has the best in terms of high availability, in terms of elasticity, in terms of scalability and those are the things in my opinion not only big enterprise, customers are looking for but also is the small and startup companies are super interested in.”
He further added, “We are targeting customers from all different backgrounds and of different sizes. Instead of looking at from the company’s size perspective, I would argue that we are more and working with our customers from a market segment point of view like whether you are from e-commerce, or you are from logistics, where you are from a traditional manufacturing enterprise market and we will work with our customers in most cases to deliver a solution that suits your business needs and look at new market segment you are in and combining that with the best practice that we have gained from serving Alibaba Group.”
