Flipkart co-founder Sachin Bansal is likely to be cab aggregator Ola's mentor as the company is entering its next phase of expansion, Business Standard reported, citing sources.
Sources told the paper that Bansal will be able to help Ola in its fight with its rival Uber. They added that Bansal's entry into Ola will help instil confidence in investors.
According to the BS sources, Bansal is likely to be instrumental in Ola closing the $1.5 billion funding round by August and the cab aggregator may enter a tie-up with Ather Energy to push its electric vehicle plan.
Ather Energy is another startup Bansal earlier invested in.
People familiar with the matter told BS that Ola can get the 'extra edge' on the negotiating table with investors as Didi Chuxing, Chinese cab aggregating company, has already approached it.
