To curb the increasing plastic menace, Maggi maker Nestle India is offering consumers a free packet of the instant noodles in exchange for 10 empty packets at retail shops, The Economic Times reported.

The exchange offer is initially launched in Dehradun and Mussoorie, and could be introduced in other states later, the report said, adding that the company is working with about 250 retailers.
"The move is among the company's various plastic waste management initiatives," a company spokesperson told the newspaper.
According to the report,  Maggi, Pepsico's Lay's chips and Parle's Frooti were among the top brands causing plastic pollution in May as the consumers were not disposing of the empty packs efficiently in the most-visited hill stations of Uttarakhand.
