Here are the top Indian brands, according to a KPMG survey

As discretionary spending continues to tick up, both local brands and multinationals operating in India are going all out to woo the consumer. Generally, brands that offer high level of personalisation, integrity, resolution and meet consumer expectations rank high among consumers.
A KPMG survey on consumer experience excellence shows that top performers in these categories include Indian brands like Taj Hotels Resorts and Palaces, Barbeque Nation as well as Tanishq.
Here are the top local brands in India according to a KPMG survey
  • Allen Solly -
  • The brand is an initiative of Madura Fashion & Lifestyle, a division of Aditya Birla Fashion and Lifestyle, and is India’s largest and fastest growing branded apparel companies and a premium lifestyle player in the retail sector. After consolidating its market leadership with its own brands, it introduced premier international labels, enabling Indian consumers to buy the most prestigious global fashionwear and accessories within the country.
  • Barbecue Nation -
  • The popular restaurant chain successfully initiated the Indian diner to the concept of DIY meals and barbecue cuisine. Founded in 2006, the restaurant has since opened branches across major cities in the country and is rapidly expanding in India as well as globally.
  • DMart -
  • This chain of hypermarkets was founded in 2002 and has spread its roots firmly. DMart secured a record breaking IPO and has spread over 150 outlets in the country.
  • Flipkart  -
  • India's answer to Amazon has had a fairy tale run, reaching out to the Indian consumer inherently distrustful of paying first with their cash on delivery system. The company, which was acquired by retail giant Walmart, started off delivering books, but has since expanded its offerings.
  • Hindustan Petroleum - 
  • This state-owned oil and gas company has a comprehensive network, enabling it to market products widely. The company makes a variety of fuels including petrol, diesel, aviation turbine fuel and lubricants.
  • Indian Oil - 
  • IOCL - another state-owned energy company, owns refineries, pipelines and a robust marketing infrastructure. The company also engages in exploration of crude oil and natural gas.
  • Karachi Bakery - 
  • This chain of eateries has spread rapidly in the over sixty years of its existence, buoyed by the popularity of its biscuits.
  • Natural Ice Cream - 
  • This ice-cream chain supplies its outlets everyday and offers more than a hundred flavours of ice creams through the year. While some, such as mango and litchi are seasonal,  about 20 flavours are available all year round.
  • Taj Hotels Resorts and Palaces - 
  • The Indian Hotels Company owns some of the most iconic hotels in the country, including the iconic Taj hotel at the Gateway of India.
  • Tanishq - 
  • Owned by the Tata Group, this jewellery brand is headquartered in Bengaluru and is known for its iconic designs and socially relevant advertisements.
