The online festive sales seem to have seen great traction on day one itself. Amazon Great Indian Festival Sale, which kicked off on Monday, saw significant buying across several categories.
Smartphones category led the sales on day one. Within the category, Xiaomi sold more than a million devices in a day and OnePlus saw booking worth Rs 400 crore.
Large appliances saw a 30X growth over an average business day. Growth was driven by a huge spike in all key categories such as televisions, refrigerators, washing machines and dishwashers.
“We are delighted and humbled how customers have responded to the Great Indian Festival to provide us with the biggest opening ever with more Prime members shopping than ever before," said Manish Tiwary, Vice President - Category Management, Amazon India.
"Our efforts to bring the next 100 million customers online are clearly paying off as we saw more new customers acquired on this day than any day in the last three years," Tiwary said.
The fashion vertical on Amazon saw a 100 percent growth in sales over last year. Top brands such as American Tourister, UCB, Puma, Biba, Shoppers Stop, Casio, Fastrack saw a sales growth of 10-15X over an average business day.
Amazon’s own brands in the fashion category saw a 400 percent growth, while luggage and travel gear saw a growth of 130 percent in sales over last year.
The five-day sale will continue till October 15.
