After BJP MPs stalled the adoption of contentious draft report on demonetisation, chairman of the standing committee of parliament on finance, M Veerappa Moily, on Tuesday slammed the ruling party leaders for taking political line with the panel report.
In an interview to CNBC-TV18, Moily said, "Unlike the parliamentary proceedings, the process in the finance committee or any departmental committee will go beyond the party politics. I don't think agenda of one particular 'A' party or 'B' party is discussed and argued on that line."
"All these four years, I was heading the committee. 69 reports were submitted to the parliament and all the reports are unanimous, not even a single dissent note from the BJP members. All the members arrived at consensus. Even in 2018-2019, out of 69 reports, 20 reports have been totally unanimous," the senior Congress leader said.
Moily said, "Some members desired that there should be further discussion and in depth discussion, that is why the report was postponed. The committee and I felt that there could be more discussion. I will be placing all the evidence, which has been collected and members will go through it. Next month, we will be deliberating on that and will come out with the report."
