Now that the Modi cabinet is in place and the first cabinet meeting is scheduled at 5 pm on Thursday, there is no clarity on who is getting which portfolio. CNBC-TV18’s Shereen Bhan explains.
The key headlines is that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has decided to go in for continuity the second term. So a lot of old faces made their way back to Rashtrapati Bhavan to be sworn-in to the council of ministers.
BJP president Amit Shah, a key architect of his party's landslide victory in the Lok Sabha elections, is the most notable inclusion in the second Modi government.
Another surprise inclusion was S Jaishankar, former foreign secretary, who is likely to replace Sushma Swaraj as the new external affairs minister.
