The constituency went to polls in the fifth phase of the 17th Lok Sabha elections on May 6.
Sonia Gandhi has never lost from Raebareli, a Gandhi family bastion in Uttar Pradesh’s Awadh region. The seat has been won by the party every time but twice since the first election here in 1957. Singh, who recently switched to the party from the Congress, is less likely.
The 'mahagathbandhan' has not fielded its candidate from Raebareli to avoid division of votes in the opposition camp.
