In a fourth consecutive win, the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) chairperson Sonia Gandhi won in Raebareli, Uttar Pradesh, by 1.67 lakh votes against her rival, BJP's Dinesh Pratap Singh, the Election Commission said on Thursday.

Sonia Gandhi has never lost from Raebareli, a Gandhi family bastion in Uttar Pradesh’s Awadh region. The seat has been won by the party every time but twice since the first election here in 1957. Singh, who recently switched to the party from the Congress, is less likely.
The 'mahagathbandhan' has not fielded its candidate from Raebareli to avoid division of votes in the opposition camp.
At 03.17 PM, the Sensex shed 399.52 points or 1.02 percent at 38,710.69, while, the Nifty50 was down 106.70 points, or 0.91 percent at 11,631.20.
