Shiv Sena's Arvind Sawant defeated his nearest rival Milind Deora of Congress in Mumbai South by more than 1 lakh votes and won the seat in Maharashtra.
Sawant polled 4,21,937 votes while Deora has secured 3,21,870 votes, according to the Election Commission website.
About 7,98,254 votes were polled in the constituency where voting was held on April 29.
Despite having won it in 2004 and 2009, Deora had lost the seat to Sawant in 2014 by a margin of 1,44,154 votes.
His father, Murli Deora, had represented the constituency for three terms from 1984.
Businessmen Mukesh Ambani and Uday Kotak also endorsed Milind Deora in a statement last month.
Sawant argued that while he has done good work for the constituency, he has not talked it up adequately.
In an interview with CNBC-TV18, Sawant said as far as the constituency is concerned, "I have raised the issues of the common man. I was the voice of the class and mass in the parliament."
