Updated : May 05, 2019 10:13 PM IST

Polling for the fifth phase of Lok Sabha elections will take place on Monday for 51 seats spread across 7 states, including Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal and Bihar.

The fifth phase will see the electoral future of many heavyweight candidates including UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi, Congress president Rahul Gandhi, BJP’s Union ministers Rajnath Singh, Smriti Irani and Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore.

Here’s a list of some of the most important contests in this phase of Lok Sabha elections.

Sonia Gandhi vs Dinesh Pratap Singh (Raebareli): The United Progressive Alliance (UPA) chairperson Sonia Gandhi has never lost from Raebareli, a Gandhi family bastion in Uttar Pradesh’s Awadh region. She had held the seat since 2004 and chances of her losing to BJP’s Dinesh Pratap Singh, who recently switched to the party from the Congress, are less likely. The Mahagathbandhan has not fielded its candidate from Raebareli to avoid division of votes in the opposition camp. ( Image courtesy: Facebook)
