India were on course for a mammoth total in their much-anticipated Cricket World Cup encounter against Pakistan before rain forced the stop of play. Sent in to bat, Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul got India off to a flying start as they piled on 136 runs for the first wicket before the latter was dismissed. Coming in at number 3, skipper Virat Kohli continued the steady flow of runs and added another 98 runs for the second wicket with Sharma, who went on to score 140 runs off 113 balls. Kohli raced away to a 62-ball 71 not out before rain played spoilsport. India were well-placed on 305/4 after 46.4 overs and will fancy their chances of registering a seventh straight World Cup win over Pakistan if the rain relents.
