SUMMARY
More than a million people in Uttar Pradesh planted saplings as part of the state government's campaign to tackle climate change and improve the environment in the country’s most populated state. Planting was carried out in 14,30,381 places, including 60,000 villages and 83,000 sites in forest ranges. It was the second huge tree-planting campaign in Uttar Pradesh. In 2016, 5 crore saplings were planted in a day.
