    Reporter Without Borders, a non-governmental organisation that safeguards the right to freedom of information has released its 2020 Freedom of Press Index. The organisation has ranked 180 countries to define the degree of freedom available to journalists by pooling responses from experts to a questionnaire devised by it. This analysis is combined with quantitative data on abuses and acts of violence against journalists. The criteria evaluated includes pluralism, media independence, media environment and self-censorship, legislative framework, transparency, and the quality of the infrastructure that supports the production of news and information.
