Dalal Street | Market benchmarks marched higher for the fifth straight session on Thursday as investors accumulated energy, financial and IT stocks amid a mixed trend in global equities. The 30-share BSE Sensex climbed 284.42 points or 0.51 percent to settle at 55,681.95. Likewise, the broader NSE Nifty went higher by 84.40 points or 0.51 percent to 16,605.25.

Asian Development Bank | The Asian Development Bank cut its economic growth forecast for India to 7.2 percent for 2022-23 from 7.5 percent estimated earlier because of higher-than-expected inflation and monetary tightening.

Rupee | The rupee recovered from its all-time low of 80.06 to close 20 paise higher at 79.85 against the US dollar on Thursday following overall weakness in crude oil prices and fresh foreign fund inflows.

Crude Oil | Brent oil price gained by 0.81 percent to 104.76 a barrel at 7:30 AM on Friday.

Russia-Ukraine War | Ukraine's military has the potential to make gains on the battlefield and inflict major losses on Russia, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on Thursday after meeting senior commanders. In a late-night video address, he said that the meeting had discussed the supply of modern weapons, adding the intensity of attacks on the Russians had to be stepped up.
