CNBC-TV18 travelled to ITC Maratha in Mumbai as it opened its doors for commercial operations. As per the Maharashtra government’s guidelines, hotels in the state have been allowed to commence operations with 30 percent capacity. And ITC is following all SOPs, right from picking up guests to ensuring that drivers have protective shields, while gloves, masks and sanitisers are placed in the hotel’s cars along with a QR code that guest can scan to avail all the set guidelines that need to follow to stay safe. The check-in process is quite interesting as guest needs to fill details prior to coming to the hotel. Every customer is handed a registration form which is pre filled and all the guest needs to do is sign documents with a santised pen that are placed in a ultraviolet equipment to remove any left-over toxins. As far as rooms are concerned, each of them go through a three-step process after which they are left for a minimum of 24 hours before the next guest enters. There is a seal placed on every room that breaks only after a new guest enters. This is a way of letting guests know that the room has been sealed and is safe to enter. The room cleaning process is quite detailed. Touch points have been identified that are sanitised each time a guest steps out of his/her room. After a guest checks out, the entire room – including the cupboard and bathroom – are misted using specialised equipment. All bathrooms are steamed as a additional precaution.
