Investors who subscribe online will get a discount of Rs 50 per gram. While there's no capital gains tax on redemption of SGBs, the interest on these gold-backed bonds is taxable under the Income Tax Act, 1961.
The first tranche of Sovereign Gold Bonds (SGB) for 2022-23 opened for public subscription on June 20 and will continue for five days till June 24. The date of issuance has been fixed for June 28. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) said the second tranche for this financial year will be available for subscription from August 22 to 26.
