One of the strongest voices in couture and fashion from India, Gaurav Gupta is a pioneer of the new wave of contemporary Indian fashion.
A graduate of the Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design, Gaurav was recognised as ‘Future of Couture’ by Altaroma Altamoda early on in his career. In his fifteen-year-long career, he has worked with Hussein Chalayan; been the youngest jury member at Mittelmoda; and received various awards for his noticeable debut in Japan, Russia and India.
He is credited for transforming the quintessential sari by sculpting the sari gown; merging indigenous Indian construction and embellishing techniques with his idea of the future. He recently collaborated with IBM's Artificial Intelligence platform, Watson to create a cognitive sari gown integrated with lights that changes colours and patterns based on the personality of the person interacting with the wearer of the gown.
His stunning creations have been adorned by the likes of Aishwarya Rai, Nicole Scherzinger, Julie Berman, Deepika Padukone and Sonam Kapoor.
