Davos 2020: Karnataka CM BS Yediyurappa says his govt's priority is development of agriculture, welfare of farmers, SC, ST, OBC

Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa on Thursday said his government's priority is development of agriculture and welfare of SC/ST and OBCs.

The government has already planned many programmes and are going to finalise them within 15 days, Yediyurappa told CNBC-TV18 on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum 2020 in Davos.

"We are going present Budget on March 5 and before that we will finalise everything. We are thinking about number of new schemes, but according to financial condition we are going to take decision as early as possible."

Karnataka chief secretary TM Vijay Bhaskar said  the World Bank has selected Bengaluru and Kolkata in addition to Delhi and Mumbai as cities for Ease of Doing Business ranking.

"In pursuance of this we have taken whatever actions are necessary on whatever indicators they have to improve our rankings."

Bhaskar added he was sure that within the time limit that they have specified, the state will be on top of Ease of Doing Business list and that Bengaluru will be in no way less than Mumbai or Delhi.

"They (Delhi and Mumbai) have had a head start because they have been on the list since many years."

"This is the first year for us, but we are working very hard towards those actions."

BS Yediyurappa and TM Vijay Bhaskar on Thursday were speaking to CNBC-TV18's Shereen Bhan on various matters related to the state in Davos, Switzerland.
