Tata Motors is seeing a recovery trade and is likely to take a pause soon, said market expert Prakash Diwan. He said that Ashok Leyland will continue to see momentum as the upcoming budget is expected to be very positive for commercial vehicle (CV) sector, directly or indirectly.
“What is working for Tata Motors is a recovery trade in terms of the global footprint. My sense is that Tata Motors is probably going to take a pause, you will have to wait for it to catch up. Ashok Leyland could probably see a little bit of more momentum continue in its favour especially because the budget could also be very positive for commercial vehicle (CV) sector directly or indirectly," said Prakash Diwan in an interview with CNBC-TV18.
On Metropolis' acquisition of Hitech Diagnostic Centre, he said, “The acquisition is going to help them grow subsequently. At this point in time, Metropolis is already pricing in a lot of things without having that footprint which Dr Lal Pathlabs has or Thyrocare has. I am not advocating buying them at this point of time, but I think you will see a good value entry level for Metropolis after they have digested this acquisition of Ganesan’s Diagnostic Centre.”
In terms of HDFC Bank, he said, “You will probably have HDFC Bank giving you that continuous growth rate which you always expect from it and hence the premium that is attached to it. The only concern would be if they delay in the resolution of all the issues that they had, the tech related issues on the credit card side, on the card issuance side - those would probably make it lose some market share. So that is something which you would have to factor in, which is a minor part on the overall scheme of things but I think the market won’t react very majorly on these numbers either positively or negatively.”
