Sensex scales 40,000 peak, Nifty breaches 12,000 for first time as polls show Modi returning to power

NSE Nifty50 and S&P BSE Sensex create a record high. Nifty50 crossed 12,000 mark and Sensex touched 40,000 on Thursday backed by the Lok Sabha election results 2019, with BJP returning to power for the second five-year term.
At 10:30 am, Nifty50 was at 12,000, up 2.25 percent or 265 points . Meanwhile, Sensex was up 896 points or 2.30 percent at 40,000.
In last one year, Nifty has risen 14 percent and 10 percent YTD (Year-to-date). Sensex has surged 16 percent in last one year and 10 percent YTD.
