Nifty shareholding pattern: A look at changes in the June quarter

Promoter holdings in the Nifty50 index rose 0.6 percent in June 2020 quarter on a QoQ basis, said IDBI Capital in a recent report. Meanwhile, mutual fund holdings and Foreign Institutional Investors' (FII) holdings decreased by 0.1 percent each in this period. Here's an in-depth look at changes in various shareholding patterns on Dalal Street's benchmark index in Q1FY21.

 Promoter Holdings:  Promoters of Adani Port, JSW Steel, and Indusind Bank increased their holding by 0.79 percent, 0.35 percent, and 0.31 percent, respectively on QoQ basis. Meanwhile, promoters decreased their holdings in HUL, Kotak Bank, Infosys, and Bharti Airtel by 2.7-5.2 percent on QoQ basis.

 Mutual Fund Holdings:  Mutual Fund houses increased their holdings in Bharti Airtel, HUL, Dr. Reddy’s, and Britannia by over 1 percent each whereas, they decreased their holdings in Infosys, Grasim, HDFC Bank, Axis Bank and ONGC by 0.9-2.69 percent.
Mutual Fund Holdings: Mutual Fund houses increased their holdings in Bharti Airtel, HUL, Dr. Reddy’s, and Britannia by over 1 percent each whereas, they decreased their holdings in Infosys, Grasim, HDFC Bank, Axis Bank and ONGC by 0.9-2.69 percent.
 FII Holdings:  Foreign Investor (FII) increased their holdings in Kotak Bank and HUL by over 2.5 percent, meanwhile, their holding in Infosys fell as much as 7 percent in Q1. JSW Steel, SBI, PowerGrid and Hero Motocorp also saw a decline in holding by over 1.5 percent each.
FII Holdings: Foreign Investor (FII) increased their holdings in Kotak Bank and HUL by over 2.5 percent, meanwhile, their holding in Infosys fell as much as 7 percent in Q1. JSW Steel, SBI, PowerGrid and Hero Motocorp also saw a decline in holding by over 1.5 percent each.
 Insurance Company Holdings : Financials heavyweights Kotak Bank, SBI and HDFC saw their holding raised by insurance companies in Q1 between 0.5 percent and 1.6 percent. Meanwhile, Britannia and Infosys saw a decline in holding by over 1.5 percent each. Dr Reddy's and IndusInd Bank's holdings also fell around 1 percent on a QoQ basis.
Insurance Company Holdings: Financials heavyweights Kotak Bank, SBI and HDFC saw their holding raised by insurance companies in Q1 between 0.5 percent and 1.6 percent. Meanwhile, Britannia and Infosys saw a decline in holding by over 1.5 percent each. Dr Reddy's and IndusInd Bank's holdings also fell around 1 percent on a QoQ basis.
 DII Holdings:  Domestic investors raised their holding in GAIL the most, up 8.7 percent followed by Kotak Bank and Bharti Airtel by 2.5 percent each. DIIs decreased their holding in Cipla by over 6 percent and Infosys by over 4 percent in the June quarter.
