HEG hits 13-month low; circuit limit cut to 10% from 20%##HEG hits 13-month low; circuit limit cut to 10% from 20%

Shares of HEG Ltd extended their losses for the fourth trading day and hit a 13-month low of Rs 1,992 as investors fret over the possibility of earnings of Indian electrode makers taking a hit. With effect from today, the stock's circuit limit was revised to 10 percent from 20 percent, according to the BSE website. HEG has seen selling this month because of concerns that the decline in prices of products such as ultra-high power electrodes and a likely rise in operating costs would eat into profits over the coming quarters. Prices of needle coke, the raw material for graphite, have spiked nearly 30%, and therefore, the profit margins are seen shrinking, reports said last week. At 10.39 am, shares of HEG were trading 5.9 percent down at Rs 2,070.9. Shares have fallen nearly 34 percent in the last four sessions. (Cogencis)
