Asia stocks subdued ahead of China data, Gulf attacks support oil

MSCI's broadest index of Asia-Pacific shares outside Japan edged down 0.2 percent. The Shanghai Composite Index dipped 0.1 percent, Australian stocks added 0.1 percent and Japan's Nikkei climbed 0.25 percent.
The Fed's June 18-19 meeting will give investors an opportunity to see if the Fed's monetary policy stance is in sync with market expectations for a near-term rate cut.
In commodities, Brent crude futures edged up 0.2 percent to $61.43 per barrel after rallying 2.3 percent the previous day.
