Sensex, Nifty open flat, IT stocks among early gainers as rupee weakens against US dollar

The Indian rupee was sharply down against the US dollar as rising crude prices weighed on sentiment. The rupee opened at 68.42 a dollar.
NTPC, Axis Bank, SBI, ONGC, ICICI Bank, Tata Steel, Maruti Suzuki India, Bharti Airtel, IndusInd Bank shares were trading lower on the BSE, while notable gainers include TCS, Infosys, SunPharma, M&M, Wipro, HDFC Bank.
On the NSE Nifty 50, Tata Motors, HCL Tech, Wipro, Cipla were among top gainers, while the shares of oil marketing companies and Dr Reddy were among notable losers.
