Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s campaign to save girl child, called as ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’, completed four years on January 22. The campaign was started by the Modi government to curb female infanticide and promote education of girl child.

However, the data released by the Ministry of State for Women and Child Development tells a different story.
After four years of launch, about 56 percent of the funds allocated to the scheme have been utilised in publicity and media activities while only 25 percent of the fund have been released to states and union territories for the all-round development of the girl child.
