Oil edges up on OPEC's supply cuts, but US surge caps gains

US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude oil futures were at $56.92 per barrel at 0636 GMT, up 13 cents, or 0.2 percent, from their last settlement.
Brent crude futures were at $66.65 per barrel, up 7 cents, or 0.1 percent.
Traders also pointed to the political and economic crisis in OPEC-member Venezuela as a driver for oil prices.
