There is a Ministry of Mines framework that came in on Monday and it talks about recycling the non-ferrous metals scrap. As of now, they are looking at a sustainable scrap recycling ecosystem.
If you look at the Indian metal scrap industry whether it comes to collection, segregation, processing, or infrastructure all of that is underdeveloped here. Recycling requires 95 percent less energy than producing primary metal, this is true especially in the case of aluminum.
Also, the industry believes that the growing demand that we are seeing in the case of many of these metals to meet that recycling perhaps is the better option than importing.
